One Year Blog Anniversary

Cannot believe that I have been blogging for a year now!  The year has gone by so fast. In many ways, I am glad that I have the blog to remind me of what has taken place over the past year. For those of you who read my blog, I want to thank you, thank you, thank you, for sharing this journey with me.

So what better way to celebrate this important milestone than to do a giveaway? I would like to give the necklace below as my token of appreciation for visiting the blog. Just a background, the necklace is from Cayetano Legacy Collection whose founders happen to be my cousins.

To enter, just write something in the comment box of this post about what you are looking forward to this summer. I will pick a winner on June 5th. Some restrictions do apply — you must be 18 years and older to enter and you must reside in the US. Have fun and be creative with your comments!

Before I go, here are some of the highlights from the last year in case you want to travel down memory lane and reminisce with me:

That’s all folks! Here’s to hopefully many more years to come….

  1. Congratulations on your first year anniversary of beautesimple.

I would love to hear more about your return to the Philippines and how your daughters reacted. Did you happen to be in the Motherland during the Philippine Independence Celebration – June 12th? If so I would love to pick your brain if you happened to celebrate in any way.

As for my summer plans, I hope to return to the paying workforce after a long hiatus because of motherhood. I will take almost any job at this point. Hopefully there will be opportunities to to enjoy the great outdoors ie camping, a beach day, long walks and jaunts to the burbs. Otherwise, there are always adventures to be had in in the NY gritty city.

    • Hi Lori – We were not in the Philippines during Independence Day. I am not sure if things have changed in PI but I don’t recall any special celebration other than parades when I lived there. But I can think of other ways we can teach our kids about this important day. Let’s discuss offline. Wishing you the best in your efforts to reenter the workforce. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Waow a year already!!! I remember your first posts. Happy blogaverssary 😉

    Hi Myla,

Congratulations on the anniversary of your blog!

I am very excited about my summer as I am transitioning out of the corporate world where I have been working as an Art Director in the publishing world for 25+ years! I’m starting off this new stint of my life by being President of the Junior League of Morristown, where I’ve volunteered as an Active member for ten years. I will continue to be a creative person – as it’s who I am – but I’m seriously looking forward to this positive, life-affirming opportunity!

Additionally, my husband and I will be taking long weekends at our beach condo every chance we can get. Looking forward to that as well.

Hope you are doing well Myla!

    • Sandy – I am so glad to hear from you! Very excited about all the changes ahead of you. I know that you will be great as JLM President. I am sure your hubby will be enjoying your time at the beach this summer. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Hi Myla,

I have enjoyed reading about your adventures both locally and abroad. What is most refreshing is the nature and simplicity of the pleasures… This summer I hope to have an enjoyable summer with my kids . Although we have not planned a big fancy trip this year, I will be embracing my children and any time we have together as a beautiful moment to remember. And I hope to catch as much of it on camera for memories! Thank you for sharing a piece of your life with us!

    Best wishes,

    • Thanks, Norma! Spending quality time with your kids, especially during the summer when days are more relaxed, is simply priceless. Nothing beats that.

  5. Jacqueline

Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary! I have always wanted to write a blog myself…maybe one day I will find the time & inspiration to actually do it, lol! Since I usually spend most days wrapped up in work, I’m looking forward to making more time for myself this summer…i.e. taking my dog for extra long walks in the park, attending more outdoor events, reconnecting with my yoga practice, spa treatments, eating ice cream in the middle of the day, turning my weekends into “stay-cations”, and so on…!!! I hope you have an amazing summer full of special moments too 😉

    • Hi Jacqueline – Thanks for your kind words! Sounds like you have a very active and busy summer ahead of you. Spa treatments and ice cream sound good just about now.
