Summer, Summer, Summertime

We have been experiencing summer weather here in the East Coast the last week. For my little brood, summer starts on Memorial Day Weekend in Cape May, New Jersey. A tradition that I started eight years ago with my good friend Ellen and our respective families, it has now become one of the high points in our year. Cape May, otherwise known as Exit Zero in the Garden State Parkway, is a beach town peppered with Victorian homes and cottages. The town was very popular at the turn of 20th century with wealthy Philadelphians and stalwart middle-class families from nearby towns. Today, a lot of Cape May action centers around hanging out at Congress Hall and strolling along Washington Street Mall. For those who are not in the mood for those things, there is always the Cape May Lighthouse, some whale watching and biking. Do you have any special place that you go to celebrate the beginning of summer?

  1. Love the pictures, especially the seashells. The lighting and focus on them are really nice. It’s already bringing back good memories of the weekend!
