Weekly snapshots of life in 2016
There was slight chill in the air this past weekend, a few days after the official start of autumn. I love this time of the year when more leaves settle on the ground and walks become a bit brisker in pace. I also enjoy the feeling of donning on long-forgotten sweaters and jackets — those garments tucked away in the back of the closet for the last four months or so. All these things lead us to shift and look inwards, a must after a summer of pleasure and oblivion.
The whole ritual of fall comforts and assures my soul immeasurably. Though born in a tropical country, I now know that living with the four seasons is critical for me to regulate my life and shift my priorities as needed. Despite the promise of a brutal winter, I know that it will be hard for me to move to a place where I cannot see the leaves change colors, the roads turn desolate after the first snowfall, and birds come back when flowers start to bloom.
