‘Tis the Season
It feels like we didn’t do much this past weekend. It must because while we were not truly idle, we spent most of the time indoors entertaining family and friends. There was a lot of cooking on my part, including trying a Pumpkin Cheesecake recipe that turned out to be pretty yummy.
It was good to just be around everyone and I feel like I’ve somewhat caught up with loved ones whom I do not get to see very often. With everyone around, Thanksgiving this year felt more like Christmas. We haven’t finalized our Christmas plans yet but I think it’s going to be a quiet one with pretty much just the four of us. But I am okay with that.
Anyway, I feel that it’s time for us to start our own traditions for the holidays. We sort of already have little rituals that we do around this time of the year but we would always try to travel to spend Christmas with family. This year, we want to do things a little differently. We want to stay put and enjoy being at home. The call of waking up in our own beds, making our own holiday food, opening gifts on Christmas morning and even going to church in our town beckons stronger this year. So we are staying home and digging our roots a little further in our town, something foreign for a girl like me whose definition of home has always been a bit vague.
