Petit Prince at the French Institute
This past Saturday, we went to see the Little Prince/Petit Prince movie at the French Institute in Manhattan. Chiara finished the book last year in her French class and even staged a mini-play with her friend, Emily. My younger one, Ines, started the book in English this summer but has not quite finished yet. Since both girls love the book, I thought that it would be a good idea to see the movie.
When I first told them our plans for Saturday afternoon, both girls balked at the idea. They both said that they’d rather do something else though neither one had any idea of what to do. I explained that I had already purchased the tickets so we could not really back out. So off we went, en famille, to the city.
Though the movie itself was not exactly a direct interpretation of the book, it proved entertaining for the girls. There was an arts and crafts activity afterwards and we got to check out some French magazines and books at the Institute’s library. However, the true highlight for my daughters that day was going to the nearby FAO Schwarz where they got to run around the store before the holiday shopping madness begins.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
