I find it rather amusing that I’ve only just made my first visit to historic sites in Philadelphia, considering my close relationship with the city. I supposed seeing loved ones and friends are usually my top priorities when I visit, and sightseeing always gets pushed to the back burner. With the girls being on holiday break, we had the incentive (and proper excuse) to finally visit the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall and other historic spots.
Unlike New York or Chicago, I think seeing Philadelphia is a less daunting task. The city streets are smaller and the neighborhoods are primarily organized based on the purpose they serve. The historic sites are mostly in the Old City district in downtown Philly while most of the important museums are in the Art Museum district area. Personally, I think the city is an ideal quick getaway destination for young families who don’t want to inundate their kids with tons of sights to see.
