I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything on this blog since September 2018! I wish I can say I was busier than in years past and use the craziness of everyday life as my excuse. But that wouldn’t be telling the truth. The reality is I started feeling that my life wasn’t worth writing about. The monotony of pre-college mode has set in and writing about mundane details of living with teens just isn’t as cute as blogging about excursions with toddlers and grade-school kids.
But somehow over the holiday break, I checked out some of the bloggers whom I’ve started to follow 10 years ago and realized that I miss this space. There’s something about the way these bloggers share thoughts, opinions and tidbits about their lives that I found reassuring — maybe it’s because I have traveled a similar parenting journey as these women and we share similar lifestyles. Reading their blogs almost feels like catching up with an old friend, no pretense or ulterior motives, just camaraderie. Their blogs, not heavily curated and designed to generate business for sponsors, exist simply as a public journal.
Inspired by these bloggers, I decided that one of my resolutions in 2019 is to write in this blog more often. I’ll try to post once a month at minimum. You may ask why I continue to blog when so many have moved on to other platforms like podcasts and videos. Well, I want to continue because blogging has made me more accountable to making the most out of life. It has inspired me to pick up the camera and capture the minutiae of daily life that would normally be unnoticed or unappreciated. Blogging has encouraged me to pursue my creative whims and not stifle them for conformity’s sake. Plus, I’m hitting the big 5-0 this year and I want to remember as much of this year as I possibly can.
So, 2019, let’s do this, let’s have a year filled with wonderful moments and creativity!
