Deauville’s Clairefontaine Racecourse

Deauville’s Clairefontaine Racecourse

One of the things we look forward to in the summer in Normandy is going to see the horse races in Deauville’s Clairefontaine Racecourse. Not only is the venue very charming and typical of Normandy’s landscape and architecture but it also offers tons of activities and entertainment for children and adults alike.

For kids, there are guided pony rides, face painting and bouncy houses. For adults, there are beautiful vintage cars to look at and various local products like wines and cheeses to try. Then, there are beautiful horses to look at. The great thing is that one is guaranteed to get a good view of the race no matter where you are at the racetrack.

With us, the girls were able to place bets on some horses. Ines and I tend to pick horses with names that we like regardless of stats. One of our picks that did well was a horse called Un Dimanche à Paris (Sunday in Paris). How’s that for a name?! On the other hand, Chiara and Richard love to look at stats and previous wins when placing their bets. Unfortunately for them, Ines and I did better with our picks this time around.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!
